I am repeatedly disappointed
as I look for you
in a crowd of
here alone in empty space
a simple speck in your night sky
barely visible on my own
and in a mass, near indiscernible
out in this cold vacuum
the conflagration of this self
all that keeps me warm
a fire that burns doubly
for the warmth of another
I am never to have
do you truly know what it means
to destroy someone with your touch?
could you tell me what happens when
two stars meet?
A name as beautiful as the person it belongs to,
a bubbling pleasure each time I speak it
You had caught my eye from afar,
but I have finally found you.
What is to come next
I can only wonder
as I nervously step in your direction
the mind, a vast library
and I search for the right sentence
in an array of blank books
words, words, always so fleeting
Is there a way to get across to you the beauty I see?
The beauty of which you know or may not know
you already possess
Will I ever find the words that will not overwhelm
and scare away
scare away the same beauty of which I wish to hold
before these rough hands get the chance to turn soft
I trip and stumble over my own words
words too packed with emotion
I am but a klutz
here left to pick myself up
I’ll keep my head down if you choose to walk away
“Oh dear Ryu, what have you done?”
He looked down at his hands.
They were covered in blood,
but not of his own.
“We hurt others because we are hurt,” Ryu said softly.
“An eye for an eye.”
“Or a heart,” Ryu gazed with an empty smile at the man that laid on the floor before him and the hole in his chest.
She followed Ryu’s gaze and rested her eyes on the body for a second. A second that seemed to last an eternity.
“Maybe we hurt others for the mere enjoyment of seeing them in pain,” she murmured with a sad smile as she approached Ryu.
He looked up and to his left, avoiding eyes likely filled with accusation. “I can no longer tell the difference. The line has long ago blurred.”
Something long and metallic glistened for the briefest moment.
“I am sorry dear Ryu,” she whispered as she plunged the sharp object into his abdomen.
“Me too…Bella,” he drawled through pained breaths.
Before falling next to the man at his feet, Ryu wiped away her single tear and stroked the lips he would never again touch.
Retaliation for a pain indirectly inflicted.
I now know why
your name is such
she always brought happiness
when he heard her voice
yet today’s message
brought only a steady stream
of regretful tears
you never gave her a reason to stay
thank you cruel world
you are my favourite
to call my secret beloved
in high hopes of being raised from
only to be dragged further down
thank you for this misery
thank you for this pain
I owe to you the words of disappointment
that I speak
you must be the only one so proud
proud of how I let down everyone
may these tears of salt and water
quench your endless thirst
should i make it past this day
i shall leave an extensive trail of failure
for your own enjoyment and ridicule
I had another dream of which you were in
we were more bold this time
instead of hand-holding
I love how my mind tortures me
with that which I’ll never have
Is my cruelty wrought from the misery
this mind creates?
Or is this misery karma for my cruelty?
I suppose I could ask you to help make
the dreams come to life
but reality crushes dreams, more often than not
so much easier it would be to continue sleeping
Hated are the dreams of happiness
from them I wish to never awaken
In this reality such dreams will never
A friend is nothing more than a friend
and sometimes even less
What of me do you really know?
How much of you will I ever get to know?
What’s behind the masks we wear?
Intentions pure or poison?
