“Oh dear Ryu, what have you done?”
He looked down at his hands.
They were covered in blood,
but not of his own.
“We hurt others because we are hurt,” Ryu said softly.
“An eye for an eye.”
“Or a heart,” Ryu gazed with an empty smile at the man that laid on the floor before him and the hole in his chest.
She followed Ryu’s gaze and rested her eyes on the body for a second. A second that seemed to last an eternity.
“Maybe we hurt others for the mere enjoyment of seeing them in pain,” she murmured with a sad smile as she approached Ryu.
He looked up and to his left, avoiding eyes likely filled with accusation. “I can no longer tell the difference. The line has long ago blurred.”
Something long and metallic glistened for the briefest moment.
“I am sorry dear Ryu,” she whispered as she plunged the sharp object into his abdomen.
“Me too…Bella,” he drawled through pained breaths.
Before falling next to the man at his feet, Ryu wiped away her single tear and stroked the lips he would never again touch.
Retaliation for a pain indirectly inflicted.
